TALOS team operates within the framework of the laboratory’s activities:
The TALOS team was founded in mid-2016 by students of the Electronic Computer Systems Engineering Department, formerly TEI of Piraeus, with the aim of learning and researching unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). With the merger of the TEI of Piraeus and the TEI of Athens into the University of West Attica and the renaming of the department to Informatics and Computer Engineering, there was an interest in non-aerial systems, leading the team to broaden its horizons to engage with all types of unmanned systems (UVs). Over the years, many members from the student community of the department, and beyond, have actively participated to gain knowledge and experience in computer engineering and informatics.
The team participates in various projects and research programs. Introductory courses are held for interested students to smoothly integrate them into projects of their choice. Finally, there is an anticipated trend towards generalizing the team’s activities from unmanned vehicles to projects of various purposes that incorporate sensors and microcontrollers.
